M43B. Davidson, G, A Dictionary of Angels, Including the Fallen Angels, 1967, Free Press small 4to pbk. 1971, 28 + 386pp, with illustrations in text; arguably the single most comprehensive reference source on the subject, a complete A to Z of angels in literature, myth, magic, and religion. Covers slightly marked in places, edges rubbed, slight creasing to corners of front cover, edges of text block soiled and browned, slight staining to title page margins otherwise internally clean and tight, good + £8

M0045. Degraaff, R.M, The Book of the Toad, 1st edition, Park Street Press 4to pbk. 1991, 16 + 208pp including index, with illustrations in the text, some in colour; an interesting guide to the natural and magical history of toad-human relations. Closed tear to upper part of back-strip without loss, slight bumping to corners, minor spots to half title otherwise internally clean and tight, good + overall £2.50

M45. De Givry, E.G, Witchcraft, Magic and Alchemy, 1929, 1st English edition, George Harrap & Co. 1931, 4to, black cloth with gilt titles to spine and front board, 395pp, with 366 illustrations in the text + 10 coloured plates, top edge gilt, translated from the French by J. Courtenay Locke; a splendid pictorial history of witchcraft, magic, alchemy, and other occult sciences, arguably the best work of its kind, and unusual in combining a reliable, if somewhat Francophile text with its wonderful set of illustrations. Light rubbing to corners and spine ends, a little damp spotting around the edges of the boards, end papers and half title foxed, some very occasional light marginal spotting, very slightly affecting text on one page, which is otherwise clean and tight. A good + or arguably very slightly better overall copy of the increasingly scarce first English issue, with later reprints failing to do justice to the quality of the French original, which is particularly evident in the reproduction of the coloured plates £120

M47A. Drummond, W, Oedipus Judaicus, 1811, Bracken 8vo pbk. 1996, 72 + 381pp + 16 plates (on ordinary paper).  A series of dissertations on Genesis and the books of Judges and Joshua that attempt to show them as astronomical allegories, together with a preliminary notice on ancient astronomy.  Edges of covers lightly rubbed, crease to lower corner of rear cover, slightly affecting corners of last few leaves, text lightly tanned, otherwise clean and tight. Good + £2.50

M50C. Durdin-Roberton, L, The Goddesses of India, Tibet, China and Japan, 1st edition, Cesara Cr8vo pbk. 1976,  4 + 332pp including index + 9 full page illustrations by Anna Durdin-Robertson, signed by author on the title page; a useful and comprehensive guide, giving etymology, genealogy, associated places, titles, and religious lore. Corners rubbed, a couple of faint crease marks to spine, trivial soiling to edges of text block, internally clean and tight, a very good copy, and uncommon signed £18

M52. Eisenman, R, The Dead Sea Scrolls and the First Christians, 1st U.k ed. Element 1996, Lge. 8vo, black cloth, 30 + 449pp incl. index. Translations of three of the key documents with related notes and essays. V.good in v.good + d/w £6.50

M52B. Eliade, M, Occultism, Witchcraft, and Cultural Fashions, University of Chicago Press 8vo pbk. 1966, 6 + 148pp. Six essays on comparitive aspects of magic, witchcraft and religion. Edges of covers rather rubbed, covers lightly marked in places, edges of text block soiled, ownership signature to half title, marginal scoring to a couple of pages, text clean and tight. Good + overall £6

M52F. Ellis, N, Dreams of Isis, 1st edition, Theosophical Publishing House 1995, reprinted, tall 8vo, quarter brown cloth over papered boards, gilt titles to spine, 8 + 417pp; the author’s personal odyssey in search of the myths and traditions of the Egyptian Isis. Trivial spots to lower part of fore-edge of text block otherwise fine in near fine d/w £3.50
