Wilson’s pioneering work is both a well researched and fairly comprehensive study of ancient cosmology, as found encoded in ancient monuments through cosmic proportion and sacred geometry. Worldwide in scope from the prehistoric stone circles of Great Britain and Europe to the pyramids of Ancient Egypt and Mexico, it set the tone for many later writers. Corners bumped, corners and spine ends worn, joints very worn with some closed splitting, spines slightly darkened, boards a little edge rubbed, and slightly marked in places, internally some occasional minor foxing or soiling, mostly to margins, stitching very slightly strained in a couple of places, text otherwise tight and largely clean throughout, overall still a good, solid and textually better set of the increasingly scarce, and best issue of the original edition £275 MAA229A. Wiseman, S, Writing Metamorphosis in the English Renaissance 1550-1700, 1st edition, Cambridge University Press 2014, 8vo, black cloth with gilt titles to spine, 10 + 245pp including index, with a few photographic illustrations in the text; a scholarly study of animal transformations and mythical creatures in Renaissance literature set against the backdrop of Ovid’s Metamorphosis; fine in near fine (light crease to lower corner of front panel, trivial rubbing to top edge of front panel) d/w £30 M230AA. Wright, E, Book of Legendary Spells, 1968, Marlar 8vo pbk. 1974, 10 + 226pp including index, with a few diagrams in the text; a substantial compilation of spells and related ritual drawn from various traditions including voodoo and witchcraft; faint reading crease to spine, a few minor marks to covers, which are slightly edge-bumped in places, ownership inscription to front end paper, glued binding parting in one place but contents clean and still tight, a good + or very slightly better copy overall £8 M230A. Yates, F, Shakespeare’s Last Plays: A New Appraisal, 1st edition, R.K.P 1975, 8vo, blue cloth with silver titles to spine, 12 + 140pp including index + 8 plates. A scholarly study, with particular reference to Cymbeline, Henry VIII, and The Tempest; their symbolism investigated from the viewpoint of Tudor mythology, religious tolerance, and Renaissance magic. A couple of trivial marks to edges of text block, a near fine copy of this uncommon title in like d/w £18 M235. Zukav, G, The Dancing Wu Li Masters, 1979, Rider 8vo pbk 2011, 352pp including index, with diagrams and tables within the text; an overview of new scientific discoveries in the world of physics, explained from a philosophical standpoint. Minor rubbing to edges of covers, minor spots to edges of text block otherwise internally and externally clean and tight, very good + £2.50
