Light browning to edges of text block, minor spotting and off-setting to end papers otherwise internally clean and tight, a very good copy £15

M183B.  Sherwin, R, The Theatre of Magick, 1982, Baphomet 8vo pbk. 2007, 89pp including index; A practical guide to modern ritual magick, largely drawing upon the influences of Crowley and Spare, and includes Crowley’s Golden Verses of Pythagoras. The author was one of the co-founders (with Pete Carroll) of the Illuminates of Thanateros.  A couple of smallish dents to top of front cover otherwise near fine £15

Near fine £18

A comprehensive survey, covering both ancient and modern traditions. Covers lightly rubbed and soiled in places, spine very slightly faded. A hint of cockling to some margins, but contents clean and tight. Good + £2.50

Southwood, O.W (compiler), The Ultimate Book of Sorcery and the Pagan Way, 1st edition, Author House 4to pbk. 2008, 289pp, with diagrams and other illustrations in the text, some coloured; a collection of rites and spells drawn from various sources, ranging from ancient Norse paganism to the fictional realms of H.P Lovecraft; a few minor marks to covers, edges of text block a little soiled in places, internally clean and tight, very good + £30

M0192A. Stapleton, Bro. G.H (compiler), The Hand- Book of Free Masonry,  Adapted for the Use of Lodges, Chapters & Convocations and the Instruction of Individual Members of the Craft, 1847, 3rd edition revised and improved, R.C Lepage & Co. 1857, Royal 8vo, decorated navy blue cloth with gilt titles and gilt Masonic decoration to front board, repeated in blind to rear board, re-backed with new end papers and gilt titles to spine, 2 + 192pp, with an engraved title page printed in red and blue, many illustrations in the text + 15 plates, of which 4 are partly hand coloured (of Masonic jewels) and 5 fully hand coloured; a fairly comprehensive and wonderfully illustrated overview of Freemasonic rites and symbolism. Corners a little worn, edges and rear cover rather rubbed, faint spotting to front board, some light even tanning to first and last few pages, minor spots to the odd margin, light spotting to three pages and slight off-setting from the coloured plates to corresponding others, text tight and otherwise very clean, overall a good + copy of a very rare book, the last and best edition, there being no readily available modern reprints. This copy would appear to contain additional b/w plates, the first edition having 5 coloured plates only, and this edition usually just 9 plates, either fully or partly hand coloured. Worldcat only locates two copies in total, one copy of this edition, in the British Library at St. Pancras, and one copy of the first edition in the National Library of Scotland £275

Stokes, G.T, Ireland and the Celtic Church, 1st edition, Hodder & Stoughton 1896, 8vo, green cloth with gilt titles to spine, 16 + 358pp including index; a history of the church in Ireland from the time of St Patrick through to the English conquest in 1172; a few marks to cloth, corners and spine ends worn, joints and edges rubbed, damp spotting to fore edge of boards, edges of text block soiled, some occasional light foxing and soiling throughout, mainly to margins, ownership signatures to half title and top of title page, a couple of sentences underlined in ink, front hinge slightly strained, text tight and largely clean overall, a good solid copy £12

Svoboda, R.E, Aghora: At the Left Hand of God, 1986, Rupa 8vo pbk. 2004, 327pp; the first of the author’s studies of Aghora, one of the more extreme Hindu tantric traditions of the left-hand path which is focussed around the cremation ground; the author being a long term student of Aghori Vimalananda.  Some slight edge wear to covers, previous retailer’s label to rear cover, minor soiling to edges of text block, internally clean and tight, a near very good copy £5
