K19A.Von Bohlen, Prof. P, Historical and Critical Illustrations of the First Part of Genesis, 1835, 1st English edition, Trubner & Co. 1868, 8vo, complete in two volumes, matching blind decorated brown cloth with gilt titles to spines, 32 + 336pp & 4 + 298pp including index, edited by James Heywood; with the Heraldic book plate of Charles Durward to the front paste-down of volume two. An in depth scholarly commentary on the first eleven chapters of the Book of Genesis within the wider context of early Jewish thought on astrology, mysticism and religion, together with related comparitive material on the traditions of the wider near East. A few minor spots to covers, light wear to spine ends and corners, with some wear to lower near edges of rear board on volume two, which also has slight wrinkling to the back-strip, a couple of tiny bumps to fore edge of rear board on volume one, which has a small to medium sized decreasing brown stain to outer margins of half a dozen or so leaves, other occasional minor spots to margins, text clean and tight throughout in both volumes, overall still a near very good well matched set of the very scarce first English issue £150
