Page 3 CO19AA. Nutt, A, Cuchulainn, the Irish Achilles, 1st edition, David Nutt 1900, Cr8vo, printed wraps, 52pp; Popular Studies in Mythology and Folklore number 8; sizable stain to top of front cover, also affecting internal text, lessening towards the end, and all still readable, a good solid reading copy £5 C19AC. E, Old Stone Crosses of the Vale of Clwyd and Neighbouring Parishes, together with some account of the Ancient Manners and Customs and Legendary Lore connected with the Parishes, 1st edition, Bernard Quaritch 1886, 4to, near contemporary quarter maroon (leather?) over deep cream papered boards with gilt title to spine, 208 + 26 (of 38pp, missing text loosely inserted in modern facsimile) including index + 6pp subscribers list, with illustrations in the text + a frontispiece and 4 plates; a fascinating study of antiquities and their folklore centred on the Vale of Clwyd. Corners worn, edges rubbed in places, boards slightly darkened, marked and soiled in places, light foxing to first and last couple of leaves and the odd margin, text tight and very clean overall. A miss-bound copy, lacking one gathering of the appendix which is supplied in modern facsimile, frontispiece miss-bound with the other plates, index and subscribers list bound at the beginning instead of the end, but apart from the missing pages and miss-binding issues, a good + copy of a fairly scarce work £50 C21DD. Ravenscroft, T, The Cup of Destiny, 1st edition, Rider 8vo pbk. 1981, 194pp. The quest for the Holy Grail, with particular reference to Von Eschenbach’s Parzifal. A few trivial marks to covers, rear cover lightly tanned, contents clean and tight. Very good £3 C27. Sykes, H, Celtic Britain, 1997, Cassell Lge. 8vo pbk (landscape format) 2001, 159pp incl. index, well illustrated in colour throughout. Celtic monuments and sites of Britain from Neolithic times forward. Near mint £3 C31. Williams, E (Iolo Morganwg), Iolo Manuscripts, 1st edition, William Rees for the Welsh Manuscripts Society 1848, Royal 8vo, blind decorated green cloth with gilt titles to spine, title page rubricated, 12 + 712pp, with a frontispiece, one other plate, and two facsimiles; a significant contribution to Welsh folk history and the material underlying the Welsh Druid revival, given in both the original Welsh and in English translation by the author’s son. Boards slightly marked in places, spine slightly darkened, corners bumped, spine slightly worn at head and tail, closed splitting to lower joint, binder’s waste pasted down to inner margin of preface, some occasional, mainly light foxing throughout, small ownership stamp to front end paper, rear inner hinge parting at the gutter but remains relatively firm, stitching slightly strained in places,, still a good, approaching good + overall solid copy of the scarce first issue £175
