A facsimile reprint taken from a signed and dedicated copy of the original edition. An astonishing and comprehensive account of the mysteries and manifestations of the Holy Grail in literature, legend, religion and symbolism. Much of the material featured on the Celtic church was compiled by Arthur Machen, and is principally in his own words. Edges of text block lightly soiled in places, contents clean and tight. C30A. Weston, J.L, The Quest of the Holy Grail, 1st edition, G. Bell 1913, Cr8vo, green cloth with gilt titles to spine, 12 + 162pp  including index + publisher’s advertisement leaf. A study of the texts and folklore relating to the Holy Grail, and with particular reference to the author’s theory of the grail connection to ancient fertility rites which was fully explored in From Ritual to Romance.  Spine darkened, upper joint rubbed, previous owner’s book plate and stamp to front end papers, minor spotting to end papers and first and last couple of leaves otherwise internally clean and tight. A near very good copy of the uncommon first issue £20
